A Botox consultation is an initial appointment where you can learn about facial expression lines and botulinum toxin treatments, and where we listen to your expectations. At Aysel Vural Beauty and Aesthetics Centre in Alanya, we explain the process in plain, clear language so you can make your decision without feeling rushed.
What is a Botox consultation?
A Botox consultation is not a treatment; it is a process of information and assessment. Together we talk through what you would like to know and what you are hoping for. Whether a treatment goes ahead, and how, is decided solely by an authorised doctor following their assessment. No procedure is carried out during the consultation, and there is no obligation to proceed with any treatment.
What is botulinum toxin (Botox)?
Botox is the everyday name commonly used for botulinum toxin products. Botulinum toxin is a prescription medicine that temporarily reduces muscle activity and may be used to influence the appearance of lines caused by facial expressions. Its effect is temporary and how long it lasts varies from person to person. As it is a prescription medicine, it should only be administered by a doctor, using licensed products and in a suitable setting.
What is discussed during the consultation?
- Your expectations, questions and any concerns
- Your medical history, allergies and any medication you take regularly
- General information on how the treatment is performed, possible side effects and the temporary nature of the effect
- Care options that may be considered where botulinum toxin is not suitable
Results vary from person to person and no specific outcome can be guaranteed.
Why does Botox require a doctor's assessment?
If botulinum toxin is injected into the wrong area or at the wrong dose, it can lead to unwanted results. For this reason, your facial muscle structure and your health need to be assessed by a doctor. Counterfeit products or products of unknown origin can cause serious health problems. If you are considering treatment, always check that the product is licensed and that the practitioner is a doctor.
What should be considered before Botox?
Pregnancy and breastfeeding, certain nerve and muscle conditions, infection at the treatment site, the use of certain medicines and allergies may rule out treatment. That is why it is important to share your medical history, medication and allergies during the consultation. Suitability is decided by the doctor after this assessment.
