SQT bio-microneedling is a professional skin treatment using spicules derived from the freshwater sponge Spongilla, designed to support skin renewal and collagen production. At Aysel Vural Beauty and Aesthetics Centre in Alanya, we plan your SQT bio-microneedling treatment around your skin type and needs, and explain the whole process to you from start to finish.
What is SQT bio-microneedling?
SQT bio-microneedling is a treatment in which tiny, needle-like structures (spicules) derived from the Spongilla sponge are massaged into the skin. These structures create microscopic channels on the skin's surface, supporting the skin's own renewal process. No metal needles are used. The treatment aims to help the skin's texture, tone and fine lines look smoother and more even. Results vary from person to person.
How is SQT bio-microneedling carried out?
- Your skin type, sensitivity, allergies and the products you use are assessed.
- The skin is cleansed and prepared for treatment.
- The spicule formula is applied to the skin using massage movements.
- The skin is soothed and moisturised.
- Aftercare advice on daily skincare and sun protection is shared.
The treatment plan depends on your skin, which is why an assessment is carried out before every session.
Which skin concerns is SQT bio-microneedling chosen for?
This treatment is usually chosen by people looking for support with the following concerns:
- The appearance of fine lines
- The appearance of post-acne marks
- Uneven tone and the appearance of pigmentation
- Dullness and rough skin texture
Which concern is prioritised and how many sessions are planned depends on your skin. The treatment does not mean these concerns will disappear completely; it aims to help improve their appearance.
The difference between SQT bio-microneedling and gold needle
Both treatments aim to support skin renewal, but their methods differ. SQT bio-microneedling relies on sponge-derived spicules massaged into the skin and contains no metal needles. Gold needle, by contrast, is a device-assisted treatment that works with radiofrequency energy. We decide together which one suits your skin after an assessment.
What should you consider before SQT bio-microneedling?
Pregnancy and breastfeeding, active skin infections or cold sores, open wounds, sunburn and skin sensitivity may prevent treatment. You must tell us if you are allergic to sponge or similar ingredients, if you are taking strong acne medication such as isotretinoin, or if you are prone to scarring (keloids). Please share your medical history, allergies and the products you use during your consultation. Suitability is decided after this assessment.
After SQT bio-microneedling
After treatment, your skin may show redness, sensitivity, tingling or mild peeling. The intensity and duration vary from person to person. It is important to keep the skin moisturised, protect it from the sun and not pick at peeling areas. As skin renewal takes time, results usually develop gradually and are more meaningful as part of a regular, planned course.
Planning alongside other renewal options
For uneven tone and pigmentation, see our pigmentation treatment page; for post-acne marks, our acne treatment page; and for acid-based renewal, our chemical peel page. For a comprehensive programme based on skin analysis, our medical skincare page can help, and to see all options, visit our skincare page. As renewal treatments can make the skin more sensitive, we recommend scheduling different treatments on separate days.
