A retinol facial is a professional skin treatment using a formula containing retinol, a derivative of vitamin A, designed to support cell renewal. At Aysel Vural Beauty and Aesthetics Centre in Alanya, we plan your retinol facial around your skin's structure and needs, and explain the process to you from start to finish.
What is a retinol facial?
Retinol is a vitamin A derivative widely used in skincare. A retinol facial is a renewal process in which a formula containing this ingredient is applied to the skin professionally. It is designed to help remove dead cells from the skin's surface and support cell renewal. The treatment aims to help skin look smoother and more radiant, with fine lines appearing less noticeable. Results vary from person to person.
How is a retinol facial carried out?
- Your skin type, sensitivity, and the products and medication you use are assessed.
- The skin is cleansed and prepared for treatment.
- A retinol formula suited to your skin is applied, and the contact time is determined by how your skin responds.
- The skin is soothed and moisturised.
- Aftercare and sun protection advice is shared after the treatment.
The treatment plan varies according to your skin. As retinol can make the skin more sensitive, an assessment is carried out before every session.
Which skin concerns is a retinol facial chosen for?
A retinol facial is generally chosen by those looking for support with the following concerns:
- The appearance of fine lines
- Dullness and loss of radiance
- Rough, uneven skin texture
- Uneven skin tone and the appearance of post-acne marks
Which concern is prioritised and how many sessions are planned depends on your skin. The treatment does not mean these concerns will disappear completely; it aims to improve their appearance.
What should you consider before a retinol facial?
Pregnancy and breastfeeding, active skin infections or cold sores, open wounds, sunburn and sensitivity may prevent treatment. The use of vitamin A derivatives is generally not recommended during pregnancy and breastfeeding. If you are taking strong medication such as acne medication, or using other retinol or peeling products at home, you must let us know. Please share your medical history, allergies and the products you use during your consultation. Suitability is decided after this assessment.
Aftercare and sun protection
Retinol can make the skin more sensitive to the sun. It is therefore important to use a suitable sunscreen throughout the day after treatment, keep the skin moisturised and avoid direct sun. Redness, dryness or light peeling may occur after treatment; how intense and how long-lasting this is varies from person to person. You should not pick at peeling areas and should follow the advice given to you. The timing of treatment is also considered according to the season.
