Can You Have Laser Hair Removal in Summer? What to Know Under the Alanya Sun
Summer in Alanya is long and the sun is strong. Can you keep up laser hair removal through summer, and which rules matter? We answer from our Soprano Titanium experience.
Author: Aysel Vural
Alanya enjoys sunshine for most of the year, so the question we hear most is: “Can I continue laser hair removal in summer?” The short answer: yes, with the right device and the right rules. Here’s the long answer.
Why wasn’t laser done in summer before?
Older lasers couldn’t cool the skin surface well and were strongly attracted to melanin (skin colour), which meant a risk of burns and pigmentation on tanned skin. That’s where the idea “laser is winter-only” came from.
What changed with Soprano Titanium?
The Soprano Titanium we use combines three wavelengths — Alexandrite, Diode and Nd:YAG — in one applicator. Nd:YAG in particular has a safer profile for darker and tanned skin, and ICE Plus cooling keeps the skin surface cool throughout. Together, they make it possible to continue sessions in summer.
5 rules before a summer session
- Don’t arrive freshly tanned: avoid strong sun for 48–72 hours beforehand. We don’t treat red or peeling skin.
- Skip self-tan and bronzers: artificial tan can confuse how the device reads pigment.
- No waxing or tweezing: the root must be in place; shaving is fine.
- Shave the day before: so energy goes to the root, not surface hair.
- Tell us about medication: some antibiotics and acne treatments increase light sensitivity.
Aftercare: the first 48 hours
- Apply SPF 50 to the treated area and reapply every 2–3 hours.
- Avoid sea, pool, sauna, hammam and hot showers for 48 hours.
- Skip intense, sweaty workouts and tight clothing on the area.
- For mild redness, use aloe vera or the soothing cream we recommend.
Which areas are easiest in summer?
Areas that don’t see the sun (underarms, bikini) can be treated in summer with almost no restrictions. Sun-exposed areas like face, arms and legs need stricter sun protection.
Why summer is actually an advantage
A course is 6–8 sessions, 4–8 weeks apart, following the hair cycle. Pausing in summer stretches the total time by months and can let hair regain strength. Staying consistent means you start next summer with smooth skin.
